Cloud & Engineering

Cloud & Software Engineering

Modernize platforms and build the software your business runs on — cloud modernization, application development, systems integration and DevOps.

Overview

Digital transformation depends on software that is secure, scalable and easy to change. Our engineers modernize legacy applications, build new products and connect the systems your operations depend on.

We favour proven, cloud-native patterns, automation and clean integration so that what we build is resilient, cost-efficient and straightforward for your teams to operate.

Outcomes

What clients can expect

We measure success by business results, and agree how we will measure them before we start. Open an outcome to see how we deliver it and the measures we track.

Faster, safer software releases

We automate build, test, security and deployment steps so teams can release small changes frequently and with confidence. Observability and clear rollback paths limit the impact when something does go wrong.

How we measure it

  • Deployment frequency
  • Lead time for changes
  • Change failure rate and time to restore service
Reduced infrastructure and maintenance costs

We rightsize, retire and re-architect where it pays off, and put FinOps practices in place so costs stay visible. Automation reduces the manual effort of keeping environments running.

How we measure it

  • Cloud spend by product and team
  • Unit cost per transaction or customer
  • Share of spend covered by commitments or savings plans
Legacy systems modernized without disrupting the business

Migrations are planned in waves with tested cutover and rollback plans, and old and new run in parallel only as long as needed. Business operations continue while the estate changes underneath them.

How we measure it

  • Workloads migrated against plan
  • Unplanned downtime during migration
  • Legacy infrastructure decommissioned on schedule
Integrated systems and fewer manual handoffs

Well-designed APIs and event-driven integration replace re-keying and brittle point-to-point connections. Monitoring makes data flows visible and failures quick to resolve.

How we measure it

  • Manual data entry steps eliminated
  • Integration failure and recovery times
  • Time to onboard a new system or partner
Platforms ready to host data and AI workloads

Landing zones, container platforms and data services are designed with data and AI in mind, including GPU capacity, secure networking and governed data access. New AI initiatives start on solid ground.

How we measure it

  • Time to provision a compliant environment
  • Share of workloads on standardized platforms
  • Security and policy compliance rates

Approach

How we deliver

Select a step to see the activities, deliverables and typical timing.

Step 1 · 2–6 weeks

Assess

Review architecture, code, infrastructure and delivery practices to find the highest-value changes.

We combine automated discovery and analysis tools with interviews and code reviews to understand your estate as it really is. Findings are prioritized by business impact, risk and effort.

Activities

  • Application and infrastructure discovery
  • Architecture and code quality review
  • Security and delivery practice assessment
  • Cost and performance baselining

Deliverables

  • Current-state assessment
  • Prioritized findings and opportunities
  • Baseline metrics

Step 2 · 2–4 weeks

Plan

Agree target architecture, migration waves and the engineering standards we will work to.

We define the target architecture and the standards for security, testing, observability and documentation. Work is sequenced into waves or releases with clear scope, dependencies and success criteria.

Activities

  • Target architecture design
  • Wave and release planning
  • Engineering standards and definition of done
  • Team structure and governance setup

Deliverables

  • Target architecture
  • Delivery roadmap and wave plan
  • Engineering standards

Step 3 · Typically 8–26 weeks, in two-week iterations

Engineer

Build and migrate in short iterations with automated testing and deployment from day one.

Delivery runs in short iterations, each producing working, tested and deployable software or migrated workloads. Progress is demonstrated regularly, and plans are adjusted based on what we learn.

Activities

  • Iterative build and migration
  • Automated testing and CI/CD
  • Security scanning and reviews
  • Regular demos and stakeholder reviews

Deliverables

  • Working software and migrated workloads
  • Infrastructure as code and pipelines
  • Test and release evidence

Step 4 · 2–6 weeks of hypercare, with optional ongoing support

Operate

Hand over runbooks, observability and knowledge so your teams can run with confidence.

We prepare your teams to own what we built through documentation, pairing and a period of joint hypercare after launch. Ongoing support is available if you need extra capacity.

Activities

  • Runbook and documentation completion
  • Observability and alert tuning
  • Hypercare and joint incident handling
  • Knowledge transfer sessions

Deliverables

  • Runbooks and operational documentation
  • Monitoring dashboards and alerts
  • Handover sign-off

FAQs

Questions we often hear

Can’t find what you’re looking for? Browse all FAQs or ask our team.

Can you work alongside our in-house engineering team?

Yes. Many engagements blend our engineers with yours, either as a dedicated squad or as specialists embedded in existing teams. We adopt your tools and standards where they work well and help improve them where they do not.

Do you support multi-cloud and hybrid environments?

Yes. We design for the environments you have, including hybrid and multi-cloud estates, and integrate with on-premises systems where needed.

Which technologies do you work with?

We commonly work with Azure, AWS and Google Cloud; Kubernetes and serverless platforms; Terraform; GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps and GitLab; and languages including TypeScript, Java, .NET and Python. We favor established, well-supported technologies that your teams can hire for and maintain.

How long does a cloud migration take?

A portfolio assessment and migration plan typically takes four to eight weeks. The migration itself runs in waves over several months to more than a year, depending on the number of workloads, their complexity and how much modernization is included.

How do you price engineering engagements?

Assessments are usually fixed fee. Delivery can be priced as fixed-scope phases, time and materials or a dedicated team on a monthly basis. We recommend the model that fits how well defined the work is and how much flexibility you need.

How do you approach security?

Security is built into delivery rather than added at the end: secure landing zones, least-privilege access, secrets management, automated scanning in CI/CD and threat modeling for critical systems. We work within your security policies and involve your security team early.

What happens after go-live?

Every engagement includes a handover with runbooks, observability and knowledge transfer. We can provide a hypercare period after launch and, if you need it, ongoing support or extra engineering capacity through our talent solutions practice.

How do we get started?

Most clients start with an assessment of a specific application, platform or delivery challenge. That produces a prioritized plan and a clear proposal for the first phase of delivery.
